Venezuela will take on Colombia in a warm up match before their next World Cup qualifying encounter.

The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), has named Caracas FC 26th with a total of 245 points in their latest ranking for the 2009 season.

Caracas FC want to extend their condolences to the Mora Esparragoza family following the death of Jonathan Eduardo Mora Esparragoza, a player for the club’s INF A side who died on Sunday.

This Sunday, January 18, the curtain rises on the 2009 Clausura tournament when Dvo. Anzoategui are the visitors to the Olympic Stadium with a scheduled 4pm kick off in a game dedicated to club president Dr. Guillermo Valentiner.

Caracas FC left full back Edder Pérez will miss both the Clausura and Copa Santander Libertadores tournaments following an injury to his right foot which will require further surgery, meaning he will be unable to take to the pitch for the next three or four months.

29-year-old Uruguayan Deivis Barone Farías has become the latest player to join the ranks of Caracas FC for the Clausura and Copa Santander Libertadores.

Caracas FC grabbed a 2-1 triumph, Wednesday, at the hands of second division side Centro Italo Venezolano at the Brigido Iriarte stadium in the capital in what was their last warm up match before the start of the Clausura and Copa Santander Libertadores tournaments.

Mexican side Chivas de Guadalajara will join Caracas FC in Group Six of the opening phase of this season’s Copa Santander Libertadores following their 5-3 victory via a penalty shoot out over Morelia, Sunday night, in the Aztec Interliga tournament. 

Caracas FC, warming up for the Clausura and Copa Santander Libertadores tournaments, took on second division outfit UCV at the Olympic Stadium on Tuesday night and came away with a 5-0 win. 

Continuing their pre-season build up which began in December, Caracas FC met Aragua FC in two friendly matches on Saturday at the Hermanos Ghersi stadium in the city of Maracay. 

Trainer Rodolfo Paladini is already facing another pre-season trying to get his squad of players ready for the start of the 2009 season. 

Caracas FC continue to sign and loan out players with several younger signings moving on to other clubs to be guaranteed playing time on the pitch.

Venezuelan striker Jesús "The Flea " Gómez arrived back in the country on Wednesday afternoon following a long, 12-hour flight and carrying both several suitcases and expectation as he bids to help Caracas FC in the upcoming Copa Libertadores and Clausura tournaments. 

Venezuelan defender Leonardo Bautista is to play abroad for the first time when he makes his debut in March in Major League Soccer playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Following a seven year spell wearing the shirt of Caracas FC, except for a brief spell in Argentina with Rosario Central where his stay was cut short through injury, central defender Oswaldo Vizcarrondo is to leave the Venezuelan capital to play for the powerful Olimpia de Paraguay side this season.

Following a stint in Albania, Jorge "The Pelican " Casanova is back with Caracas FC for the upcoming Clausura and Copa Santander Libertadores 2009 tournaments.  

For the forthcoming Clausura and Copa Santander Libertadores 2009 campaigns, Caracas FC are awaiting the arrival of their latest signing in striker Jesús "The Flea" Gómez  who should be part of the squad in the next few days following the signing of a contract and a medical check up.

As is becoming traditional for Caracas FC in recent years at least, pre-season training got underway again in the city of Maracay on Friday, January 2 as the team goes through the tough but necessary training schedule to ensure the players are in top shape to take on the difficult games to come in the first six months of 2009.

Everything is ready for Caracas FC to begin their 2009 campaign when the second half of the Venezuelan season kicks off on January 17 with the opening games in the Clausura tournament, while early February sees the start of the Copa Santander Libertadores.

Another newcomer is goalkeeper Renny Vega who was a key player for the Avila Reds in 2005 when Walter Roque was the manager. More recently Vega played in Turkey for both Denizlispor and Bursaspor.

An Argentine and two Mexicans have joined the ranks of Caracas FC. Darío Figueroa is from the South American country while Gerardo Torres is one of the Aztec newcomers. These two players recently spoke to the club’s press department.  

In order to win titles a team needs more than just the will to win, players need to learn from their mistakes and with experience improve as they go along.

Caracas FC continue to surprise their fans with new signings before taking on the 2009 Clausura tournament and the Copa Santander Libertadores and on Friday the squad was further bolstered with the possible imminent return of Ronald Vargas and Robertico Rosales from European teams. 

This week saw Caracas FC vice-president Philip Valentiner host a delegation from the Spanish Olympic Committee along with members of Real Madrid’s legal department with a view to studying one of the best sports complexes available in the Venezuelan capital.

Caracas FC got right back into training on Boxing Day following the Christmas break when they took to their Cocodrilos Sports Park pitch late Friday afternoon.

Argentine Dario Figueroa has become yet another new signing for Caracas FC. Following his stay with Unión Atlético Maracaibo, the striker becomes another newcomer to the side as they prepare for the Clausura tournament and the Copa Santander Libertadores.

Caracas FC are wasting no time in adding new signings to their squad with an eye on the forthcomig Clausura tournament and the Copa Santander Libertadores.

The Venezuelan Football Federation, (FVF) on Thursday, December 18 announced it will honour the president of Caracas FC Dr. Guillermo Valentiner during all the tournaments organized by the federation during 2009 on behalf of a man who has done so much for Venezuelan football and sport in general.

Negotiations were concluded on Wednesday with Turkish side Denizlispor for goalkeeper Renny Vega to return to Caracas FR for the 2009 campaign.

It´s a done deal. Venezuelan defender Gabriel Cichero is now a member of Caracas FC having signed a six month loan deal from champions Dvo. Italia to compete in both the Clausura tournament and Copa Santander Libertadores during 2009.

Norberto Riascos, born in the Venezuelan city of Guanare in 1984, is yet another newcomer to the ranks of the Avila Reds.

Despite having an up and down season, Caracas FC hope to finish on a winning note when they take on Zamora FC in the UCV´s Olympic Stadium on Sunday in a 4pm kick off.

Caracas FC, having mathematically lost the possibility of winning the Apertura tournament, haven´t hung up their boots in any way and continue to work hard to learn from their mistakes and to prepare for 2009.

Caracas FC and Atlético del Vigía drew 2-2 in the 16th round of competition in this season´s Apertura tournament, a game which served both Avila Reds´players and coaching staff in their build up towards the Clausura tournament in Venezuela and the Copa Libertadores which begin late January.

The 16th round of competition in this season´s 2008 Apertura tournament continues this Sunday with Caracas FC visiting the always difficult El Vigía at their Soto Rosa Stadium in Merida.

Caracas FC will take to the road in their opening 2009 Copa Libertadores fixture as opposed to home games in the previous two editions of the tournament where on those occasions they produced big wins against Liga de Quito and San Lorenzo de Almagro. 

Following defeat Sunday at the Olympic Stadium, Caracas FC skipper Luis Vera took time out to speak to the club´s press department about the team now and what to expect next year in both the local Clausura tournament and the Copa Libertadores.

Caracas FC were beaten two goals to nil by Monagas SC at the UCV´s Olympic Stadium in the 15th round of competition in the 2008 edition of the Apertura tournament on Sunday. 

Following manager Noel Sanvicente´s final training session at their Cocodrilos Sports Park, Caracas FC´s starting eleven for the 15th round of competition in the 2008 Apertura tournament was made known for Sunday´s home clash against Monagas SC.

The Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF) has decided against punishing Caracas FC following violence during the recent league match with Dvo. Italia which means Sunday´s encounter against Monagas SC will kick off at 4pm in the normal way.

Caracas FC wing back Edder Pérez, who is hoping to play from the start in Sunday´s 15th round Apertura game against Monagas SC, spoke to the club´s press department in the build up to the match.

Following the draw for the group stages of the 2009 edition of the Copa Santander Libertadores, opinions were made as to whether one side has been favoured with the draw and whether others have been given the short straw along with Caracas FC´s chances of making the next round. 

Caracas FC now know their opponents in the 50th edition of the 2009 Copa Libertadores de America.  The Avila Reds will take on in Group Six Lanús of Argentina, Everton of Chile and "México 2" referring to the first qualifying team in the Mexican playoff group still to be defined for the tournament beginning on January 28.

As is traditional, this Tuesday, Nov. 25 in the Paraguayan capital Asuncion, the draw will be made for the opening matches in the 2009 Copa Santander Libertadores de America.

Caracas FC slipped to a 2-1 defeat Sunday evening against UA Maracaibo, seeing three valuable points go by the wayside with just three more games in this season´s Apertura tournament left.

Caracas FC will have the first of their final four games in this season´s Apertura tournament on Sunday in their attempt to try and seal the much-wanted prize of 2008 winners. The road, which begins at 6pm in the city of Maracaibo,  will not be an easy one but the Reds have long been acccustomed to big challenges and are not afraid to take them on.

Caracas FC players, coaches and staff have left the Venezuelan capital and are headed for Maracaibo where they will take on the hosts UA Maracaibo at their "Pachencho" Romero stadium on Sunday. 

Caracas FC defender José Manuel Rey, after receiving medical treatment at the local Clínica Vista Alegre for multiple injuries to both forearms aferwards wanted to apologise to fans, players and club officials for the incident which occured in Sunday´s duel against Dvo. Italia where the Avila Reds went down 2-0 to the league leaders. 

Caracas FC sent a clear message to everyone and anyone who thought that the Apertura tournament was done and dusted when they defeated Carabobo FC 4-2 on Wednesday (2-0 on the day) when the remaining 45 minutes of the second half were finally played out following the suspension of the original game in Valencia several weeks ago.

Caracas FC left the capital at 3.30pm on Tuesday, destination the city of Maracay, where on Wednesday at 3pm they will play the final 45 minutes of their suspended match against Carabobo FC in what was originally the 10th round of competition in this season´s Apertura tournament.

Caracas FC´s victory on Wednesday against Minerven del Callao thanks to a superb Rafael Castellín performance brought about, apart from three very important league points bringing the team ever closer to top spot, a new landmark for the squad from the man who in recent times has been responsible for establishing several records.

Caracas FC, Wednesday, secured a vital 2-1 league victory in their visit to the Cachamay Stadium in Puerto Ordaz where they took on Minerven del Callao. The win gives the Avila Reds a clear-cut opportunity to challenge for top spot against the leading duo of Dvo. Italia and Zulia FC during the rest of the Apertura tournament.

This Wednesday, Nov. 5, Caracas FC travel to the city of Puerto Ordaz to take on Minerven FC at the Polideportivo Cachamay stadium where the home team manager is none other than ex-Avila Reds boss José Hernández.

Caracas FC and Venezuela international defender Franklin Lucena has talked about the team’s chances on Sunday against Estudiantes de Mérida, claiming that the match is one of the most important for the side this season as the side targets climbing league places.

Following a rain delay which put back the kick off for a good hour, Caracas FC walked out onto the Brigido Iriarte Stadium pitch for their away match against Estrella Roja FC with the sound of their fans cheering and singing their praises in this the team´s third match in this season´s Apertura tournament. Despite the conditions the fans went home happy enough as an early goal helped the Avila Reds nick an eventual 2-0 win.

The Caracas FC squad competing for the 2009 Copa Libertadores, the 2008-2009 Venezuelan League Championship and the Venezuelan equivalent of the 2008-2009 FA Cup has been officially unveiled at an event in east Caracas.

Caracas FC begin their assault on the 2008 Apertura tournament today, Saturday, 9th August when they take on tough rival Deportivo Anzoátegui in the José Antonio Anzoátegui stadium in Puerto La Cruz in what will be the opening and most important fixture of first round action kicking off both today and tomorrow.

The Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF), Thursday, officially unveiled the 2008-2009 season at an event which took place in East Caracas and at which representatives from both first and second division clubs were on hand as fixture lists and rules for the coming season along with a review of the 2007-2008 campaign were revealed.

The following players are undergoing treatment at the hands of Caracas FC physician Dr. Javier Peralta with the start of the 2008-2009 season about to get underway and the club´s visit to Puerto La Cruz where they will take on Dvo. Anzoategui.

During the last few months, Europe has cast its eyes towards the growing talent of Caracas FC with several players having trials with top flight clubs, in turn giving younger teammates the chance to show what they have learned from the coaching staff since joining the Avila Reds organisation.

The Venezuelan Football Federation made it known on Thursday that Caracas FC´s opening fixture in this season´s Apertura tournament against Deportivo Anzoátegui will now take place a day earlier than expected when the two sides meet on Saturday 9th August at 7pm, 24 hours ahead of the rest of the first division calendar.

Caracas FC swept past Guaros de Lara 4-1 in a pre-season friendly at the Farid Richa stadium on Wednesday night in a match which saw manager Noel Sanvicente experiment with several changes over the 90 minutes.

As part of their pre-season training strategy which began on June 30, the Avila Reds with manager Noel Sanvicente at the helm took on local amateur club side Hermandad Gallega de Valencia on Sunday afternoon in the Venezuelan city of Maracay.

Well-known Argentine-born trainer Rodolfo Paladini, a fundamental piece in the Caracas FC coaching jigsaw headed by his colleague Noel Sanvicente, took time out to talk to the team´s press department during a break in pre-season training at Maracay in the build up to the start of the 2008-2009 campaign.

New signing Jamerson Rentería has already blended in with the squad at pre-season training in Maracay, undergoing the rigorous training routine expected of a first division side wanting to challenge for top honours in the coming campaign.

Taking a break from pre-season training in Caracas FC´s now-accustomed venue of Maracay, new signing in the shape of Colombian striker Zamir Valoyes spoke to the team´s press department about how things are going for him so far.

After some deliberation, Colombian defender Juan David Valencia has decided to remain in Colombia and play his football there next season, declining an offer to continue wearing the colours of Caracas FC who wanted the slender half back to continue with the squad.

Javier Toyo, Leonel Vielma, José Manuel Rey, Oswaldo Vizcarrondo, Andrés Rouga, Edder Pérez, Jorge Rojas, Luís Vera, Alejandro Guerra and Cesar González are the Reds wearing Venezuela’s red wine shirts or vinotinto as the team are popularly called.

Jobanny Rivero confirmed his role with the Avila Reds last Thursday, May 31, when he signed on the dotted line for another year, adding that he was "happy to wear the red shirt once again".
