Reds Off To Costa Rica

Caracas FC, along with manager Noel Sanvicente at the helm, will travel to Costa Rica on July 17 to take on Liga Deportiva Alajuelense the following day as part of their 2009 pre-season campaign.

Club vice-president Philip Valentiner informed the media that the main reason for the trip is to celebrate the Costa Rican side’s 90th anniversary and in addition to play on their new, artificial grass pitch.

Following the game in which Caracas FC will play a full-strength side, the Reds will return to Venezuela on July 19
 
Club Facts and Figures

The Costa Rican team was founded on 18th June 1919 and their stadium has capacity for almost 18,000 fans.

Current club president is Jorge Hidalgo and the manager is Marco Octavio de Cerqueira from Brazil.
 
The club has won 24 national league titles and got fifth spot in the 1999 Copa Merconorte competition. They became the first side from Central America to participate in the Copa Suramericana in 2006 and won the CONCACAF title twice in 1986 and 2004.
