We need all the support from everyone and work together to get all three points” were the words of manager Noel Sanvicente with regard to the fans’ backing for Sunday’s league game against El Vigia at the Brigido Iriarte stadium, at the same time not forgetting Tuesday’s vital Copa Santander Libertadores return leg clash against Dvo. Cuenca at the Olympic stadium in the capital.

On a given Mother’s Day two years ago, the Reds won their ninth national title at the same Brigido Iriarte stadium and this time they are close to doing so again, hoping though that rivals Dvo. Tachira slip up, Sunday, in their visit to Llaneros FC.

Caracas still have to play Zamora in their final league match  but will be hoping by then to be back at the top of the table going into that fixture.

Referring to Sunday’s encounter, Sanvicente said: “We know what the game means and whoever lines up for us, Caracas FC will still be Caracas FC. The players know how important the match is and for that reason they have trained and prepared hard. We will continue to do what we do at home and that is get all three points and win for our fans.

Sanvicente, very experienced in local football, continued: “Many people are saying that Tachira are already champions. There are still two games to go and the difference is just one point. I have said all along that the title will be decided on the final day.”

As for the line ups on Sunday and Tuesday, Sanvicente explained: “We will rest some players, Sunday, since these are two very important matches and we have to be intelligent. Whoever plays on Sunday must however give their all,” adding that he may field as many as five youngsters on Sunday as first team players recover from the tough trip to Ecuador.

As for Tuesday’s big bash against Cuenca, the manager confirmed: "Nobody likes to lose but if we look at things carefully it’s a good result. To play 90 minutes at that altitude with just 10 men is difficult. We now have to make home advantage tell and reach the quarterfinals.
