Reds’ Plane Keeps On Going – Next Stop Maturin

01 May 2009

By Carlos Mauricio Ramirez, Caracas FC Press

This six-month period of success for Caracas FC coupled with thousands of miles of journey time appear to go hand in hand.

Now, following the one-all draw with Lanus last Wednesday in Buenos Aires, the nine-times Venezuelan champions return home on Friday to then immediately head off for Maturin the next day where Monagas SC await them in the 15th round of the Venezuelan Clausura tournament.

The Reds’ jet as it were will have no time, however, to just cut its engines. On Monday, May 4, a day after the clash with the blues and scarlets of Monagas, Caracas FC will return to the Venezuelan capital to then – 24 hours later – fly to Ecuador to take on Deportivo Cuenca in the away leg of their Copa Santander Libertadores last 16 encounter.

The Reds tour then continues to include further stops at the UCV’s Olympic Stadium where the team face El Vigia in the 16th round of the Clausura tourney followed by the home Copa Santander Libertadores tie against Deportivo Cuenca.

It’s only then that the scheduling remains somewhat uncertain although it will include a trip to Barinas where Caracas meet Zamora FC in the 17th and final round of the Venezuelan championship.

If all goes well, the semester involving miles and miles of turbulence-free success on the pitch will continue, step by step. And up to now, there’s no reason to imagine anything other than that.
